The base card varies with each game, and is the first card played on the foundations.

At game start, choose the base card by playing one of the top cards of the reserve fans on the first foundation.

Build in ascending sequence and in suit (for example, a J

) from the rank of the base card to the rank immediately below the rank of the base card until each pile has been completed with 13 cards.

Ranks are continuous: an Ace can be played on a King.
